My Reflection

I have been learning to relate to the characters in the text.

I have been reading George's Marvellous Medicine. 

I thought of some words to describe grandma from what I learnt about her in the story.

I found this easy because the words to describe Grandma were in the story all the time. 

My next step is to write a paragraph describing grandma using these words.

Identifying Different Types Of Words.

My Reflection

I was practicing to identify nouns.

I found it easy because it is easy to do the nouns and playing on the computer and learning nouns.

My next step is to do more nouns.

Multiplipilcation Strategy

My Reflection

I think I know how to halve numbers really well, so I founding using the doubling and halving strategy easy.  Next time I can practise using larger numbers like 185 x 16.

All About Insects

My Reflection

It was interesting because it was about insects  and we can learn about them to.

The thing that I need to work on is finding more interesting facts about insects by going on the internet to research or finding information in books.

We are learning how to apply paint.We learnt two techniques - dragging with cardboard and dabbing with a sponge. I enjoyed dragging the paint across the paper. It was fun.

Mathletics Top 100 Students!

In the Mathletics Hall of Fame I got 32nd in the top 100 in the world and 8th in the top 100 in NZ I got 2,120ps for my silver certificate.

Fractions of a Set

I was learning about unit fractions of a set.

One thing that worked for me was turning a fraction into a division. The line in the middle means that it's divided by so if it was 3/5 of 30 you would have to go 30 divided by 5 = 6, and then 6 x 3 = 18.

One thing that was tricky for me was when the numbers are big and I don’t know the basic facts that go with them.

 This is a piece of work I did at Te Tuhi.
I found this work interesting because it is fun to build your own dream house and live in it.
My next is to do more shapes to my dream house.

Comparing Animals Venn Diagram

My Reflection

I have been learning to find information in a non-fiction book by skimming and scanning.

Skimming is when we read quickly over a text or book is about.

scanning is when we look for specific information in a text and we look for key words or phrases.

I read a book about White-tailed spiders.

I buddied up with Hayley to compare our animals using a Venn Diagram.

I found this hard because it was hard to do the facts about the White-tailed spider.

My next step is to do more facts about the White-tailed spider by using Google or other books to help me.

Making Inferences - Worlds Greatest Race

I am learning to make and justify inferences.

In this piece of work I had to use my inference skills to find out why the author thinks the Tour de France is the greatest race on earth.  

I found this easy because I found the new words easy.

My next step is to know what explict and implicit is.

In this piece of work I was learning to retell a story.  I was retelling Solo Flyer.  I found this a bit tricky because sometimes it was to use the right number of words.  My next step is to work on my summarising skills.

I found it easy because I knew how to broken the numbers.
